Currently Reading: DESCENDENT OF THE CRANE by Joan He
I’m digging into this ARC read, a court drama in a Chinese-inspired fantasy.  I’m enjoying the read so far, but too early to have formed too many thoughts.  One aside though: the lead characters range from 16 to 19 years in age, and while I can fully believe that circumstances could lead to a 17-year-old on the throne, how is a sixteen-year-old the general of the whole army, even if he’s royalty?  I know there’s some YA suspension of disbelief I’m supposed to go into, but that one twinged me for some reason.

Recently Finished: WILD COUNTRY by Anne Bishop
This book was a little slow to start, but it has become one of my favorite in THE OTHERS series! A standalone with significant ties to the earlier books, WILD COUNTRY amped the stakes up by by taking place in a town where the terra indigene are fairly indifferent to the health and well-being of the human residents, particularly if they break the rules. Misunderstandings can be fatal, and a rookie deputy cop is one of the few forces in town who can intercede and try to keep the peace between human and supernatural.

Probable Next Read: PHASMA by Delilah S. Dawson and/or VIGILANCE by Robert Jackson Bennett
So excited for a string of backlist reads!  PHASMA will kick off my participation in #Hamilthon Reading Challenge.  Prompt one is to read a book with a name in the title, so I’m finally going to tackle this STAR WARS tie-in book that I got over a year ago. The second prompt is to read a novella, and as a big fan of Robert Jackson Bennett’s work, VIGILANCE has been my choice!
