Currently Reading: MEDUSA UPLOADED by Emily Devenport
This sci-fi tale has been on my TBR for a number of years, and having an ARC for the sequel finally pushed it to the top of my list. This one had a bit of a rough start, as it throws you into the middle of a world and plot without really grounding the character, but the writing at least is evocative.  I’m halfway through this read, so expect full thoughts next week!

Recently Finished: SOUL OF THE SWORD by Julie Kagawa
This Japanese-inspired YA Fantasy was a fun read, though with not quite the same punch as its predecessor SHADOW OF THE FOX.  Full review is up tomorrow, but the short version is that this is very much the exposition-dump middle child book, with setup happening for the final battle to come in book three.  That said, I still very much enjoy this series and will definitely be reading the final book in the trilogy when it is released!

Probable Next Read: THE STORM CROW by Kalyn Josephson
I have a couple ARCs for YA books releasing in the next week, and I’ve decided to go with STORM CROW first simply because I need a break from Asian-inspired fantasy for a second before I dive back into SPIN THE DAWN.  THE STORM CROW is about an island nation where magical elemental crows are an integral part of life, until an invading country destroys them all.  When a princess discovers a lost egg of the last crow, she hatches (pun not intended) a plan to use the crow to overthrow the invaders.
