I added a LOT of books to my shelves (or rather, my floor) this month! So much so that I had to do an entire post just for my Comic Con haul alone. While I was incredibly good about not requesting any new eARCs this month (not a single one!) I did jump all over the chance to get three incredible review copies from Orbit books, books that are priority reads for the next month. So what did I haul?

Bought
BLOODY ROSE by Nicholas Eames
Last month I bought KINGS OF THE WYLD on a Kindle Daily Deal. I haven’t read it yet, but I have a sneaking suspicion I’m going to really enjoy it, so I went ahead and picked up the sequel when it was a Daily Deal this month.
THE GALLOWS BLACK by Sam Sykes
Having loved SEVEN BLADES IN BLACK, the prequel novella was a Must Buy for me. I saved this to read at San Diego Comic Con, wanting something light and fun to keep me entertained in any lines I had to wait in. Mission accomplished!
WORDS OF RADIANCE by Brandon Sanderson
I made a promise to myself that I would continue THE STORMLIGHT ARCHIVES in July, and I made good on that promise! Although I was tempted by the fact that I know these books feature more artwork than my usual reads, I decided to get this in ebook form, in order to make carting around a 1087 page book a little easier.
THRAWN: TREASON by Timothy Zahn
One of the few books that I ordered the same month it was released, with the actual intent of reading within the month of receiving! If you read me with any regularity, you know how much I love Timothy Zahn’s STAR WARS books, and the fondness I have for Grand Admiral Thrawn. While Thrawn’s original storylines are now relegated to non-canon “Legends,” Zahn’s been allowed to pen the books that add him back to official storylines. While the arcs here aren’t nearly as complex as the original HEIR TO THE EMPIRE, (for reasons I speculated about a few months ago), these new books have been akin to giant mugs of STAR WARS hot cocoa, a moment to hang out with some of my favorite characters. I’m therefore very much looking forward to this third installment, which may finally force Thrawn to choose between his Chiss homeworld and the Empire. Also, Eli Vanto is back!
Physical Arcs
THE THRONE OF THE FIVE WINDS by S. C. Emmett
When Orbit announced this book a few months ago, I immediately fired off an email to request it because it sounded AMAZING. I’m a sucker for court intrigue and this promises a whole mess of people angling for the throne. The lovely people at Orbit graciously sent me a copy, and it is all I can do to stop myself from chucking my TBR out the window to just read this now.
THE RAGE OF DRAGONS by Evan Winters
An African-inspired fantasy featuring dragons. Yup, this immediately went onto the TBR! I got a beautiful review copy from Orbit and I’m so very, very excited to read it!
JADE WAR by Fonda Lee
When I read JADE CITY in May, I had no idea how completely swept away I was going to be by that that book or how desperately I was going to be awaiting the sequel. That left me in a tizzy, watching my inbox for news from Orbit that JADE WAR was ready to be requested, and it’s possibly the highlight of my summer to have it!
Any books you’re excited to have hauled? Or are you really excited for me to read any of the above? Let me know!
Kings of the Wyld and Bloody Rose are so good!

This list just made me re-realize how badly I want to read Kings of the Wyld and Jade City!! Those two sounds so gOOD AND COOL AND ENTERTAINING — and I just think that I would enjoy them a lot. A lot. Also, I really need to read Brandon Sanderson before the year is over! I have promised myself over and over again that I would and I don’t want to disappoint past-me lol. Hope you enjoy the books you hauled! c:

I don’t think I’ve ever been disappointed by a Brandon Sanderson book! Mistborn is my favorite, Skyward is up there, but Words of Radiance is definitely making an impression! Really looking forward to Kings of the Wyld!
