Hello all! Hope everyone’s summers are going well! Beginning today, I’ll be going on a (hopefully very brief) mini-hiatus from blogging. The reason? I’m having arm surgery tomorrow and as you may imagine, it’s very hard to type with only one hand.
Without getting too much into it, I have a compressed nerve in my elbow that has been making it difficult to lift heavy objects or keep my arm bent for any length of time. After trying other avenues like physical therapy, it’s finally time to just go in there and move the nerve to somewhere where it will be happier so that I can get my mobility back. The surgery itself is minor, and I’ve been promised I should be back to “light typing” in a matter of days, but obviously, we’ll have to see how my body feels about everything!
While I’m not looking forward to having to curtail some of my activities for the next few weeks, there is an upside that my brother brought up in a recent conversation:
He’s not wrong! Although things like video games and opening my own jar of spaghetti sauce are going to be off the table for a bit, it doesn’t take any arms to read! Perhaps I can redirect some of that downtime to the TBR of Doom I’ve constructed for this month. If nothing else, I’m taking a few sick days from work, and I’m hoping after my initial recovery period I’ll be in the right headspace to just sit on the couch with a mound of books.
In any event, I have a few posts pre-scheduled to go up, but I may be posting less in the coming weeks. Rest assured, I’ll be back as soon as I can to flail about more amazing books!
Until then, happy reading!
