Currently Reading: THE RAGE OF DRAGONS by Evan Winter and GIDEON THE NINTH by Tamsyn Muir
I’m about a third of the way into THE RAGE OF DRAGONS and the jury is very much out on my ultimate feelings, as it’s largely going to depend on how well the character arc and finale payoff are.  This is a VERY grimdark, everything-is-awful world, and the first 100-odd pages have been a lot of horrible things happening to the hero and those around him.  It’s definitely well-written, but I need SOME ray of sunshine to get me through the day.  I’m also engaging in a rare instance of simultaneous reading as I participate in a buddy read of GIDEON THE NINTH with some fellow bloggers.  I will be cracking this open shortly after finishing writing this post, so I have no thoughts yet!

Recently Finished: WORDS OF RADIANCE by Brandon Sanderson, PHOENIX UNBOUND by Grace Draven, THRAWN:TREASON by Timothy Zahn, and SPIN THE DAWN by Elizabeth Lim
I have finished SO MUCH since I last checked in two weeks ago. I finally completed the 1081 saga that was WORDS OF RADIANCE (full review here) and WOW was that worth the time!  I also completed my audiobook listen of PHOENIX UNBOUND (review) which was a pleasant diversion during driving time.   Although my surgery left me a bit too groggy to read for most of last week, when I returned to my books I read with a vengeance, getting through both THRAWN:TREASON and SPIN THE DAWN, and as mentioned, getting a good chunk into THE RAGE OF DRAGONS.  My review for the delightful SPIN THE DAWN is here and my review of THRAWN will hopefully go up later this week.

Probable Next Read: SERPENT & DOVE by Shelby Mahurin or JADE WAR by Fonda Lee
This is going to be a mood read decision.  I desperately want to get to Jade War, and if it isn’t my next read, it will be my NEXT next read.  After finishing THE RAGE OF DRAGONS, I have the feeling I’m going to need something a little less epic and grim, so a YA fantasy romance might be a good palette cleanser before my most anticipated read of the summer.

    1. Absolutely! Some of my favorite characters come from the books! Like any genre, it can be a little hit or miss, but if you love that world, you can definitely find some great reading material! These days, Claudia Gray is writing some of the best Star Wars books, but Timothy Zahn was the standard setter for years!
