Currently Reading: BLOODY ROSE by Nicholas Eames
I’m only five chapters into BLOODY ROSE at the time of writing this post, and I’m already blissfully happy. The second I cracked open the book and saw the map of the Heartwyld, it was like snuggling into a warm blanket. I almost never read books in a series so closely together, but KINGS OF THE WYLD put me in such a happy state of mind, I couldn’t wait to get back to that world. For those who don’t know, BLOODY ROSE is the standalone sequel that follows a bard who falls into the mercenary band of the titular Bloody Rose, daughter of one of the characters of KINGS OF THE WYLD. I imagine I’ll have this finished before I check in next week, so stay tuned!
Recently Finished: THE LAST SUN by K.D. Edwards
I decided to break up KINGS OF THE WYLD and BLOODY ROSE so I didn’t burn out on them, and after perusing my books, decided tackling an urban fantasy from my backlist would be a good chance of pace. THE LAST SUN was a bit of a journey though – I was not clicking with it at first and even briefly considered setting it down and trying again later. Thank god I persevered because it finally won me over and left me salivating for the sequel! I’ll have my full review up later this week, but I can see why so many of you squeal over this series.
Probable Next Read: ???
This one is going to be partly a mood read decision, but also partly decided by how quickly I get through BLOODY ROSE. With the end of #WyrdandWonder in sight, I need to start turning my eyes to my June review pile which is..umm…a lot. Choices were made. I would love to squeeze in one more backlist read before the month is out, so we’ll see what happens! I’ll soon be back to my monthly TBRs, where I’ll have a better sense of what’s in the pipeline week to week, but for now I’m going to ride this mood read train until the bitter end!
