Another Wyrd and Wonder in the books! I so greatly appreciate this annual celebration of all things fantasy, in particular because it is excellent motivation to tackle my backlist pile. This year, I took things a step further and declared the month Mood Read May, which means for the first time in 18 months, I had no formal TBR. I did have three books picked out that I really wanted to try and get to. The bad news: I only got to one of them, KINGS OF THE WYLD. The good news: I only got to one because I loved KotW so much that I decided to push on and read the sequel this month, so I’ve caught up completely on the series! Among other highlights: three of my reads were from my very neglected Kindle pile and only one read was an ARC. So all in all, a successful outing!
Wow, this was an exceptional month for me! First off, I caught up on Mercy Thompson, reading the latest book in one of my favorite urban fantasy series. I then started AND finished Nicholas Eames’s series THE BAND by reading both KINGS OF THE WYLD and BLOODY ROSE this month! While reading BLOODY ROSE meant I didn’t get to a few other things on my list this month (I’M SO SORRY TETHERED MAGE) it feels so good to check off an entire series, even if it’s only two books long so far. Next month it’s looking like my series reading is going to be primarily a couple YA duologies that are concluding this summer. I did, however, manage to get SLIGHTLY ahead on my ARC reading for June, so I’ve also put EDGEDANCER on my TBR to try and make progress on STORMLIGHT ARCHIVES. It might not happen, but I’m hoping because it’s a shorter book (under 300 pages) I’ll have time to get to it!
