Currently Reading: ASHES OF THE SUN by Django Wexler
I’m starting this book today, so no opinions yet. Wexler has been on my list to check out for a few years now, so I’m curious to see how this goes! It’s a gorgeous cover, and the prospect of a post-apocalyptic fantasy is intriguing. Two siblings are on opposite sides of two factions hunting for a magical relic from a long ago civilization, as civil war looms on the horizon. Fingers crossed on this one!
Recently Finished Reading: THE CROW RIDER by Kalyn Josephson and CHARMCASTER by Sebastien de Castell
It’s always nice when you have back-to-back great reads! First up was my ARC of THE CROW RIDER, an excellent finale to THE STORM CROW duology, with magic, sieges, and giant crows being ridden into battle. I ended up liking this one more than the first book, so if you’re looking for a magical companion series to blitz through, check this one out! Then with my monthly TBR done early, I tackled CHARMCASTER, third book in the SPELLSLINGER series. These books are just so much FUN, and I frequently find myself unable to put them down, they just move so easily. Already have book four in my cart to order!
Probable Next Read: OATHBRINGER by Brandon Sanderson or ???
With ASHES OF THE SUN coming it at 500+ pages, I’m going to see how long it takes me to finish before I select my next read. I suspect I’ll decide it’s time to start OATHBRINGER and knock that out early this month, but we’ll see how I’m feeling! I might try to slip in a palette cleanser between these epic fantasies, as I frequently like to switch up genres when I’m reading. Tune in next week!
What are you reading this week?
Just read The Book of Phoenix by Nnedi Okorafor – the imagination and inventiveness of this author is astonishing. Now started the sequel, Who Fears Death, which I read a couple of years back but was eager to return to since finishing the prequel. I’m loving being back with Onye.
