Oathbringer  Peace Talks  Chaos Vector

Currently Reading: OATHBRINGER by Brandon Sanderson
Over the weekend I began my “summer reading” project: the 1220 page OATHBRINGER!  It’s always a bit difficult to make space for the STORMLIGHT ARCHIVES, given how huge they are; I’m a fast reader but it still takes me a couple of weeks to get through them. Last year, I mentally blocked out July for WORDS OF RADIANCE, in part because it was the same month as San Diego Comic Con, when I’m in my most nerdy mode and ready to throw caution to the wind as I switch on summer vacation mode.  That was going to be the plan this summer, except, well, everything got cancelled.  But the OATHBRINGER read shall go on regardless!  I’m a couple hundred pages in at this point, so still “early days” in this monstrosity, but I”m enjoying it so far!

Recently Finished: PEACE TALKS by Jim Butcher
Ah, a return to Dresden Files was just what I needed!  So good to be back among old friends.  Although the pace was a tad slower than other books, it still packed an emotional punch, and left things on a hell of a cliff hanger.  Thank God the next book is just a few months away!

Probable Next Read: CHAOS VECTOR by Megan E. O’Keefe
Let’s be real, I’ll probably still be reading OATHBRINGER next week.  But when I do eventually finish, I’ll  be switching gears into the sci-fi space to read the sequel to one of my favorite reads of last year, VELOCITY WEAPON.  This is book two in a planned trilogy, which began by following a soldier, her politician brother, and a thief as the three went about their lives in a galaxy on the brink of war.  I can’t remember the last time I legit gasped out loud as certain things unfolded in a book, so I’m thrilled I’ll be reading the sequel soon!

  1. I’m having the worst time settling on a book this week. I’ve started a couple of things that just weren’t working for me, so instead of wasting a reading week, I jumped into Random Sh*t Flying Through the Air, which is luckily doing the trick and lots of fun😁

  2. I’m reading The Big Sleep by Raymond Chandler at the mo. It’s the archetypal hard-boiled detective novel, so not SFF at all, but having read the first Dresden Files book now it’s very clear where Jim Butcher got much of his inspiration for Harry Dresden from. I was obviously familiar with the generic private dick type character from other media, but it’s very interesting and enjoyable to read some of the original source material that the trope emerged from.
