We’re now more than 3/4 of the way through the hell-year that has been 2020! The good news is, the next few months have some AMAZING looking books coming out. These are the ones I’m most excited about, and I cannot wait to read each and every one.
If any of these catch your eye, I’ve linked all the covers to Goodreads! Let’s dive in, shall we?
THE INVISIBLE LIFE OF ADDIE LARUE by Victoria Schwab
Release Date: October 6th, 2020
I’ve been waiting on this one for a while! I adore Victoria Schwab’s A DARKER SHADE OF MAGIC series, so I was very excited to hear about her standalone book. The premise is thus: a young woman makes a deal so that she can live forever. The catch? No one will remember her. And so she goes for three hundred years until one day, she walks into a bookshop – and a young man there CAN remember her. Hoping to read my ARC of this very soon!
BLACK SUN by Rebecca Roanhorse
Release date: October 13th, 2020
I’ve made no secret of my love for TRAIL OF LIGHTNING, a post-apocalyptic monster hunting book that devastated me in a few hundred pages. Now Roanhorse is making a fully original fantasy world, inspired by Pre-Columbian Americas, and I cannot wait to see what she does. The first of a trilogy, it sees the lives of a few different people come crashing together as an eclipse brings the omen of a great upheaval. This has already gotten some great reviews, can’t wait to check it out!
THE THOUSAND DEATHS OF ADOR BENN by Tyler Whitesides
Release Date: October 20th, 2020
This is actually a rerelease from Orbit, but it is being rereleased because the publisher picked up two additional books from the author to make a full trilogy. On top of that they plan on releasing all three books in successive months, October, November, December! These books are going to be MASSIVE, 700+ pages apiece, but they are also fantasy books about thieves, so I’m still really looking forward to it. (Seriously, though, I need to stop picking up tomes.) The plot sounds like a fantasy OCEAN’S ELEVEN, with a team of grifters and thieves and forgers and more banding together to rob a king. Yes. Please.
And those are the books I’m looking forward to in October! What’s on your radar?
I just started Addie LaRue yesterday, and I’m already loving it😁 And I can’t wait for Black Sun!

As usual, too many books too little time, but tops on my physical October TBR is Phoenix Extravagant by Yoon Ha Lee & The Once and Future Witches by Alix E. Harrow. On the digital TBR I have Black Sun by Rebecca Roanhorse, Plain Bad Heroines by Emily M. Danforth, and The Midnight Bargain by C.L. Polk.
