Currently Reading: THE INVISIBLE LIFE OF ADDIE LARUE by Victoria Schwab
Finally getting to one of my most anticipated releases of the year! This standalone adult fantasy has a fantastically tragic premise: what if you could live forever, but no one could remember you? Such is the curse of Addie LaRue, who makes a deal with a dark god that leaves her unable to leave a mark of any kind on the world. This is the kind of story that’s just sucking me in as it goes back and forth between an older and wise Addie in 2014, and her early days in 1700s France trying to figure out how to survive with her new curse. People forget Addie ever existed within moments of leaving her sight, which makes things as simple as renting a room for a night a near impossibility. Meanwhile in 2014, Addie is about to discover the one person in the world who doesn’t forget her. Hoping to have this read and reviewed before the book’s release next week!
Recently Finished: THE SWORD OF KAIGEN by M.L. Wang
Huzzah, my one big goal for Self-Published Fantasy Month has been accomplished! I wish I had gotten to read more for the event, but I’ve been promising to read this for over a year and now it’s checked off! I did enjoy the magic system, and a heart-breaking clash of characters in the finale. Look for my review later this week!
Probable Next Read: BLACK SUN by Rebecca Roanhorse
After ADDIE LARUE, it’s time for one of my OTHER most anticipated releases for the year, BLACK SUN! I’ve been looking forward to this new fantasy trilogy from Roanhorse since it was announced. After I tackle this one, I’ll turn my eyes back to my September review pile and likely tackle BLOOD & HONEY, sequel to SERPENT & DOVE.
