Weekly Reading Check-In: 01/27/21

Currently Reading: HOLLOW EMPIRE by Sam Hawke
At last, starting the sequel to CITY OF LIES! I’m only about 10% in so far, but slow going is due to life being busy, rather than any fault of the book’s! I will admit, it’s taken me a moment to get my bearings, as it’s been a few years since I read CITY OF LIES, but I’m falling into the rhythm of the world, and the espionage and backstabbing has already begun! HOLLOW EMPIRE picks up two years after CITY OF LIES. The siege of the city of Silasta may be over, but the political turmoil that started the rebellion is far from done. This will probably take me the rest of January to finish, but boy am I excited!

Recently Finished: THE CAMELOT BETRAYAL by Kiersten White
Well I absolutely tore through this one! But it’s also a weird book to talk about, because while I thoroughly enjoyed it and read 75% of it in one day, I have to admit – not a lot happens in the book. And yet, I so thoroughly love the characters and the world, I was just happy to be along for the ride. It was a rainy day, I was under the covers, and just ready to enjoy this retelling of Camelot mythology!

Probable Next Read: BATTLE GROUND by Jim Butcher
After a month full of ARCs, time for some backlist! Finally ready to catch-up on the latest installment of the DRESDEN FILES. The last book ended on a hell of a cliffhanger, owing to the fact that PEACE TALKS and BATTLE GROUND were originally one book that was broken into two due to length. I’m a bit nervous going into this one, as I’ve picked up from internet chatter that Something Happens, but I won’t know until I dive in! Likely won’t start this until early February, but it is definitely next on my list!

And that’s what I’m reading – what are you up to?
