Monthly Wrap-Up: January 2021

Starting the new year off right by finishing six books! Okay, so one of them I technically finished on February 1st, but since I finished 85% of it before the month closed, I’ll count it! Considering three of these books were MASSIVE (500+ pages), this is truly a win, and it’s great to be back after a couple of months of only 3-4 books read. PLUS, I’m officially caught up on my 2020 ARCs! HUZZAH!! Still playing a little bit of catch-up in FEBRUARY with one January ARC, but other wise my plans to read more backlist are actually looking surprisingly bright. Almost makes me suspicious…….

Great Series Read Project Update

Even though it was a month of ARCs, it didn’t mean I didn’t knock out some sequels! THE CAMELOT BETRAYAL kept me up-to-date on the YA trilogy CAMELOT RISING, while finishing HOLLOW EMPIRE means I’m completing the duology, huzzah! And while PAWN’S GAMBIT is being marketed as “not a sequel,” it’s related to NEVER DIE in the same way that the WAYFARERS books by Becky Chambers are loosely connected, so I’m counting that too. I also started a new series, THE KINGDOM OF GRIT, with book one, THE THOUSAND DEATHS OF ARDOR BENN. Since each book in the series is over 600 pages, I’ll probably space the sequels out a bit, since they tend to eat up a significant amount of reading time.

Next month I’ll have a few more ARC sequels, but I’m also returning to high priority backlist project the SPELLSLINGER series! I have three books down and three to go, and am determined to finish this year!

  1. Great job on keeping up with your series. I’m just starting to get cracking on that again–finishing up three this month! And caught up on one. I’m hoping I can knock out several this year. Anyway, looks like a great reading month. The Mask of Mirrors was sooooo good! I can’t wait to read the next book.
