The Exiled Fleet  Here and Now and Then  We Cry For Blood

Currently Reading: THE EXILED FLEET by J.S. Dewes
I’m a little over halfway done with THE EXILED FLEET and enjoying it a lot so far! I’ve had a few chunks of reading where I sat down and completely lost track of time and page count because Things Started Happening. I’ve been pleasantly surprised at the direction some events have taken, and love seeing returning faces, along with new crew members. Hard to get into the premise without spoilers for the first book, but suffice to say that after being hung out to dry in book one, our motley crew of Sentinels is taking matters into their own hands. I fully expect to be finished next week, so stand by for further thoughts!

Recently Finished: HERE AND NOW AND THEN by Mike Chen
My first outing with Mike Chen was perfectly pleasant, if not something I was over the moon about. I enjoyed his take on time travel, and appreciate the amount of thought he put into those rules (time-travel being incredibly hit or miss with me, this was important). The lead character was put into an absolutely impossible situation emotionally, but there was something about the writing that kept me at a distance and not Invested with a capital “I.” Full review is still being written, but overall thoughts are that I did still enjoy the book! I just missed the emotional connection that would have truly elevated it for me.

Probable Next Read: WE CRY FOR BLOOD by Devin Madson
I’ve decided to be “responsible” and read my review copy of the third book in THE REBORN KINGDOM series, which released this first week of August. Really though, there’s no arm-twisting involved in picking this one up, as I’ve seen some tweets from fellow reviewers full of “WTF” moments, which seems very On Brand for this series. Like GAME OF THRONES, while most everyone is dealing with the warfare between nations, there are a few characters who realize that those struggles are squabbles compared to the true threat that has been manipulating events from the shadows. I’m looking forward to seeing where things go in this next installment. After that, I think it’ll be time for some Abercrombie….

  1. Those Devin Madson books sound wonderful and I’m yet to read any of them I’m sad to say 😔 I’m having a sad old time with the fiction I’ve been reading lately. Last book I read was Nophek Gloss, which didn’t work for me. At all. Really didn’t like it. And still wading through the audiobook of The Passage, though it’s been relegated to listening at work when it admittedly doesn’t get my full attention. Looking forward to reading something enjoyable again soon 😄
