Among Thieves  Last Argument of Kings  Hall of Bones

Currently Reading: AMONG THIEVES by M.J. Kuhn
After one day, I’m almost 25% through this fantasy thief adventure, so I suspect it’s going to go more quickly than my other reads from this month! This is so far a fun book that pretty much delivers what it says on the box: a gang of thieves who decide to take on a daring heist that no sane person would try. It doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but it’s entertaining and that’s really the important part at the end of the day. Hoping to have this finished by the weekend!

Recently Finished: LAST ARGUMENT OF KINGS by Joe Abercrombie
I did it guys! I started and finished the FIRST LAW series in a single year! Let’s hear it for the Great Series Read! Seriously, I had a great time seeing what all the fuss was about (and you can see my full review here). I did genuinely enjoy the books, and now I can understand all the Twitter references when someone bandies Jezal or Glotka’s name about. I suspect I’ll start trying to tackle the standalone books next year, with the hope of eventually getting to the AGE OF MADNESS trilogy. So many books!

Probable Next Read: HALL OF BONES by Tim Hardie
I apparently vastly underestimated my reads for this month, even though I limited my pile to five books. I suspect it was WE CRY FOR BLOOD being much longer than I realized that did me in. The result is that this book is probably going to leak into September, which is already somewhat of a crowded reading month. Oh well! HALL OF BONES is a self-published read and a review copy from the author. It’s a Viking-inspired tale of a clan who has to deal with the threat of a rival clan who has started trafficking in old and dark forces. The good news is the timing of this read means I’ll get to post my review during Self-Published Fantasy Month – follow the link if you want to know more about the event!

And that’s my week in reading – what books are in your currently reading stack?
