Aaaaaaaand here we go, the beginning of the fall deluge. After a quiet August, BOY do I have a line-up of new releases for the next few months. For now, I’m just focusing on September, but believe me, if none of these catch your interest, there’s plenty more releasing in the next few months. Sure makes it harder than ever to get to my backlist….

AMONG THIEVES by M.J. Kuhn
Release Date: September 7th, 2021
I am a sucker for a fantasy thief adventure, so this was an auto-request ARC for me. Having just finished my copy, I’m glad to say I had a fun time, and is a solid recommend for those looking for some escapism. Our band of thieves have their eyes on a prize that could upset the balance of power in the kingdom of Thamorr, but every thief on the crew has their secrets and reasons for betraying the others. So who will ultimately make off with the artifact? I’ll say that this adventure definitely ends on a cliff hanger and set-up for book two, and definitely keeps you on your toes!
EMPIRE OF THE VAMPIRE by Jay Kristoff
Release Date: September 14th, 2021
I’m both anticipating and dreading this 750 page behemoth, which I know is going to take some time to get through. After really enjoying the NEVERNIGHT trilogy, I’m definitely checking out the author’s newest trilogy, set in a world where the sun never rises and vampires have decimated the human population. This promises to be a fairly dark tale, so proceed at your own risk.
WAY OF THE ARGOSI by Sebastien de Castell
Release Date: September 15th, 2021
Having just finished the thoroughly fun SPELLSLINGER series, I’m looking forward to this prequel series that follows my favorite character, Ferius Parfax. Ferius is one of those characters who is seemingly easy-going and harmless, but can turn a situation to her favor with a few words or deflect a blow from a riled opponent without so much as blinking. I probably won’t have time for this series until later this year/early next year, but it is HIGH on my list to pick up.
UNDER THE WHISPERING DOOR by T.J. Klune
Release Date: September 21st, 2021
I read my first T.J. Klune, THE HOUSE ON THE CERULEAN SEA, at the end of last year. It was, as many reviews had flailed about, a cup of warm cocoa, a big giant hug that settles around your shoulders when you aren’t looking. I’m hoping for similar results from Klune’s next book, about an owner who runs a tea shop for souls preparing to cross over, who has to contend with a soul who very much does NOT want to go to the other side.
THE BRONZED BEASTS by Roshani Chokshi
Release Date: September 21st, 2021
The final book in THE GILDED WOLVES trilogy is here! A YA fantasy about a group of thieves and con artists in 19th century Europe, the last book ended on quite the cliff hanger, with the group betrayed and fractured. I am absolutely in love with the characters and their dynamics, and I’m very much looking forward to seeing how book three wraps everything up!
And those are my picks for September! What books are you looking forward to?
I’m looking forward to pretty much all of these (Except for Way of the Argosi, as I wasn’t the biggest fan of Spellslinger)

Spellslinger definitely seems to be a series you either love or don’t care for, I get it! Enjoy your reading!

I just finished writing up my September post and completely forgot about Empire of the Vampire! Probably because I don’t have a review copy and it wasn’t on my list. But I do have a preorder coming and I’m excited!
