Currently Reading: BLOOD OF THE CHOSEN by Django Wexler
I’ve got 150 pages left, and I would be very surprised if I’m not finished in the next day or two. I didn’t get that far this weekend due to various activities (lunch with parents, D&D, etc.) but when I have managed to get a chance, I’ve been devouring this sequel of two siblings navigating a weird world of science and technology. There’s obvious comparisons to be made to STAR WARS here, but I’ve also found myself thinking more and more about its similarities to the recent SHE-RA animated show. They both share a similar setting of humans repurposing technology left by a precursor race, with heroes who may share a larger connection with that race. Maya in particular has a LOT of mystery she’s trying to unravel, and I want answers now!
Recently Finished: SNOWSPELLED by Stephanie Burgis
This was as delightful a read the second time as it was the first, something I mostly read in one sitting. If you want a regency fantasy romance, where house parties in the countryside happen alongside negotiations with elf lords, this one’s for you. I’m hoping to FINALLY read book two next month, and likely continue through the various spin-off novellas as well. Stephanie Burgis also has a new series in the same vein starting soon with SCALES AND SENSIBILITY, and I wouldn’t be surprised if I started that afterwards!
Probable Next Read: THE BRONZED BEASTS by Roshani Chokshi
Book three in THE GILDED WOLVES trilogy is here! This series has been equal parts heist and treasure hunt, as a small band of magical misfits race to reclaim relics before other powerful magical families can claim them first. This is definitely a series that is pulling me through on strength of characters alone, even if I’ve had some smaller overall quibbles. The last book ended on quite a cliff hanger, and I can’t wait to see how it all comes to a close!
Snowspelled sounds like fun.. maybe I’ll check it out if I’m bored.
I have pretty mixed feelings about the Gilded wolves trilogy too and if not for the characters and some of the puzzles/artifacts, I probably wouldn’t have come this far. Now I’m just waiting for my library copy of the finale..

100%, the characters are what pulled me through that series!
