Currently Reading: ILLUMINAE by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
As of writing this post Tuesday morning, I have about 200 pages to go, but honestly think I’ll be done by the time this post goes live. When I first started this book, I was a little “meh” on it, as the dialogue and characters didn’t grab me right off the bat. ILLUMINAE definitely turns a corner after the first third, becoming a tense, deeply atmospheric space thriller that I have been simply devouring. The transcript nature of much of the book means the pages fly by, and at the moment I’m definitely planning on continuing this series.
Recently Finished: THE BONE SHARD EMPEROR by Andrea Stewart, BINTI: HOME and BINTI: THE NIGHT MASQUERADE by Nnedi Okorafor
Managed to finish THE BONE SHARD EMPEROR over the holiday, huzzah! This was a satisfying sequel, I really dig the mysteries and the magic of the world. You can read my full review here!
I changed up my reading order as I ended up in a situation where an ebook on my phone was more practical than a physical copy, so I took the chance to reread BINTI: HOME and then move straight into THE NIGHT MASQUERADE. The final book in the trilogy has been on my TBR for way too long, so it’s a relief that I’ve finally made time to read it! THE NIGHT MASQUERADE was solid, if a little meandering, and I’ll have a full review in the next week.
Probable Next Read: THE LIAR’S KNOT by M.A. Carrick
It’s time, it’s finally time! THE MASK OF MIRRORS has been an absolute favorite of mine since I read it earlier this year, and the sequel is just a week away from releasing! I’m impressed I’ve managed to restrain myself from getting to this sooner (I blame Sci-Fi Month). Desperately excited to return to this world of con artists and tarot magic and water canals, expect more thoughts soon!
And that’s a wrap on November! What are you reading as December kicks off?
