Most Anticipated SFF Releases: May 2022

And now we’re heading into the thick of early summer release season! We’ve got some amazing looking things coming out, whether you’re looking for high adventure or supernatural thriller. So let’s get to it, shall we?

If anything catches your eye, all covers link to Goodreads!

The Stardust Thief  The Hourglass Throne

THE STARDUST THIEF by Chelsea Abdullah
Release Date: May 17th, 2022

Fantasy inspired by non-European mythology/folk stories? Yes please! Drawing from such adventures as ONE THOUSAND AND ONE NIGHTS, this trilogy starter is about a smuggler, a prince, and a djinn who have to go on the hunt for a magic lamp. Been seeing a LOT of love for this one, and I was fortunate enough to get an ARC, so this one is high on my priority list!

Release Date: May 17th, 2022

So far I’ve only read the first book in this trilogy (along with a novella set between books 2 and 3), but I’m eager to catch up on THE TAROT SEQUENCE this summer! This urban fantasy series is set in an alternate version of the US where Atlantis was a real place, that was destroyed in a war. The royal courts of Atlantis have since reestablished themselves near Nantucket in New Atlantis, and all kinds of conspiracies are afoot. I might give THE LAST SUN a reread ahead of this release so I can have a good refresh, and finish the whole series this summer!

 Brotherhood  Hide

Release Date: May 10th, 2022

One thing I’ve been hoping to do now that I’m doing mood read books alongside my TBR is to finally catch up on my Star Wars pile. I’ve been very curious about a lot of the new canon books, of which I’ve read very little. This one is set during the Clone Wars, after Anakin is made a Jedi Knight and has to find a new dynamic with Obi-Wan, formerly his master, now his equal. The prequel movies may get a bad rap, but authors have done some great stuff in this space, so looking forward to seeing how this goes!

HIDE by Kiersten White
Release Date: May 24th, 2022

Kiersten White has made a name for herself in the YA space, but now she’s making her adult debut! I’m honestly not sure if I will read this one, as I’m not a huge fan of thrillers, but I had to include it because the premise sounds so good! This supernatural thriller starts with a simple competition – hide within an abandoned amusement park complex for a week without getting caught and win a huge cash prize. But as competitors begun to disappear, the contestants begin to suspect the contest is more nefarious than anticipated.

What are you looking forward to this month?

  1. I’m definitely looking forward to the Stardust Thief! I enjoyed Hide more than I thought I would despite not really loving her other books. I hope you decide to read it 😁
