I both did and didn’t get through as much as I wanted to this month. Technically, I only finished four books on my official TBR, and started a fifth, which I’m close to halfway through. Not as far as I was hoping, but I had some chonky books on my TBR this month. But overall, my monthly reading was six books in total, thanks to two reads off my mood read slot! Mood reading is a bit of a trade off as it takes time away from my “official” reading, but on the other hand, it feels good to read books I would never have gotten to otherwise!
And of course, I can’t forget to mention that this month was Wyrd and Wonder, which means I put out a few extra fantasy-themed posts for you to enjoy, including a look at upcoming fantasy video games! I burned out a bit in the middle of the month due to life deciding to be difficult, but I had a fun time with the posts I was able to produce!
My self-published read for the month was SPELLSWEPT, finishing the HARWOOD SPELLBOOK novellas. I’m not quite sure what self-published book I’ll read next month, as most of the ones I’ve bought and want to finally read are quite massive, and my TBR is extra-crowded with tomes in June. I might cheat a little bit and count HALF A SOUL, a self-published book that is now being published by Orbit which is in my ARC stack.
Great Series Read Progress
Another good month for the Great Series Read! My ARC reading let me catch up on THE BLOODSWORN SAGA (and also gave me my first five star read of the year)! I also finished my reading of THE HARWOOD SPELLBOOK novellas and started a new series that’s been on my list for ages, SWORDS & FIRE. Hoping to keep progressing that one next month!
Meanwhile, I used my mood read slot to continue on two series, reading the middle book of the second new THRAWN trilogy, as well as rereading THE LAST SUN so I can work on THE TAROT SEQUENCE later this summer. With luck, I’ll have both those series finished by the end of the year!
