Monthly Wrap-Up: January 2023

Wow, I started off 2023 in the best way possible! I read 7 books and started an eighth, and two of those reads were spur of the moment mood reads no less! Made some excellent Great Series Read progress (more below). Perhaps even more wildly, I read THREE self-published books this month (my goal is to read at least one a month). To top it all off, 6 of the 7 books were backlist reads (released prior to 2023). I don’t expect that ratio to last, especially looking at my February reading pile (which is basically the inverse), but I’m really glad this is how I’m starting off my reading year!

Great Series Read Progress

Starting the month off strong with four sequels, two of which were bought and read on my own, and two of which were ARCs, all of which bring me up to date on current releases in those series! That’s too many series to explore in detail in this paragraph, but you can see below what I read. More importantly, I started the ROOKS AND RUIN series by reading THE OBSIDIAN TOWER. While this whole trilogy was gifted to me by Orbit, I’ve been excited to read this backlist series since finishing the other series set in this world, SWORDS AND FIRE. Lastly, in addition to everything previously mentioned, I’m in the middle of reading THE GOLDEN ENCLAVES, which will mark a completed trilogy for me when I finish!
