SORCERY OF THORNS by Margaret Rogerson
Release Date: June 4th,
This YA book is one of my favorite book-lover fantasy concepts ever.  What if you were a librarian – but a librarian that wields a sword and guards a trove of dangerous, sentient magical books that threaten untold horrors if they ever get loose?  I’ve been itching to get my hands on this book ever since it was announced and the release is almost upon us!

Release Date: June 11th, 2019
This sci-fi novel has an intriguing concept: a brother and sister, the former a politician, the other a soldier, are working to end a war that has been raging for too long in the galaxy.  The catch: a mysterious event has flung the sister two centuries into the future, where she discovers everything and everyone has been destroyed.  Working from two different points in the timeline, can they avert disaster?

Release Date: June 18th, 2019
And another time-bending space adventure!  Vivian is an inventor in Boston who is accidentally catapulted into the future, where an Empress rules with an iron fist, able to destroy planets with a thought. Vivian must pull together a team of unlikely allies and misfits to overthrow the Empress and get back home.  We’re being promised a “feminist Guardians of the Galaxy crossed with Star Wars and spiced with the sensibility and spirit of Ian M. Banks and William Gibson,” which is certainly quite the promise to live up to.

SPIN THE DAWN by Elizabeth Lim
Release Date: July 9th, 2019
A YA adventure that is “Project Runway meets Mulan.”  Maia wants to be a royal tailor, but is ineligible for the job as she is a girl. Pretending to be a boy, she enters the contest to find the next royal tailor, where eventually she will be challenged to sew three magic gowns.  To accomplish the task, she’ll have to travel across the land to find the materials.  That cover alone would make me pick up this book, and I’ve been lucky enough to get an ARC!

RAGE OF DRAGONS by Evan Winter
Release Date: July 16th, 2019
A debut fantasy that was self-published and will be released in physical copy by Orbit this summer, RAGE OF DRAGONS is GAME OF THRONES meets GLADIATOR.  Select women in this world have the ability to call down dragons, while some men are able to become bigger and stronger fighters.  This tale follows Tau, a man with no magical gift who is determined to become the greatest swordsman in the realm in order to exact revenge.

THRAWN: TREASON by Timothy Zahn
Release Date: July 23rd, 2019
The third in the series of STAR WARS books focusing on Grand Admiral Thrawn in the time before A NEW HOPE, this entry will force Thrawn to finally decide where his loyalties lie. For the last two books, Thrawn has been expertly balancing his allegiance to the Emperor and his allegiance to his own race of people, the Chiss. But when his pet TIE defender project is shuttered to send resources to building the Death Star, Thrawn is beginning to waver.  Just at that happens, his protege Eli Vanto returns from a journey to the Chiss homeworld with a dire warning that may force Thrawn to commit treason in order to protect his people.

What books are you looking forward to this summer?
