Currently Reading: DOCILE by K.M. Szpara
Welp, for the second time in as many months, I’ve ditched my TBR for a mood read!  The good news is I’m TEARING through this one (I read over 250 pages the first day) so I should still be able to complete my February goals.  Early thoughts on DOCILE?  Honestly, this is the kind of read where I’m going to see the full arc of the story before I can really get my head around it, because the entire story is about power dynamics and consent.  It obviously is incredibly engrossing, but if it doesn’t stick the landing it could completely fall apart.  Let me just warn you now that if you don’t like graphic sex scenes (including sexual assault), this is NOT the book for you.  This is going to be a handful of a book to review, so look for it next week.

Recently Finished: A PALE LIGHT IN THE BLACK by K.B. Wagers and SHADOWBLACK by Sebastien de Castell
WOW, I blew through some reads in the last week!  First I finished up space adventure A PALE LIGHT IN THE BLACK.  While not as action-packed as the other books of K.B. Wagers, it was still a lot of fun!  You can find my full review here. I then proceeded to devour SHADOWBLACK in three days!  I’m really enjoying Kellan’s adventures, not least of which because he is growing as a character.  Is he perfect?  No.  But you can see him arcing and I’m definitely going to keep working through this series over the next few months.

Probable Next Read: UNDER ORDSHAW by Phil Williams
Up next, I’ll be tackling my self-published read for the month!  This was a review copy sent to me by the author.  It’s an urban fantasy about a card sharp who has to delve into the magical underbelly of Ordshaw when a thief steals all of her money.  Looking forward to sharing my thoughts soon!
