LEGACY OF ASH by Matthew Ward
Release Date: April 9th, 2020
If you’re looking for a big thick epic fantasy book to sink into, have I got a rec for you!  LEGACY OF ASH has plenty of intrigue and battles to keep you busy for hours.  There were a few things that didn’t work for me, as you can read in my review, but this is definitely going to scratch a specific itch for a lot of readers.

SHOREFALL by Robert Jackson Bennett
Release Date: April 21st, 2020
I have been waiting MONTHS for this book, the sequel to one of my favorite reads of recent years, FOUNDRYSIDE.  I’ll be reading my ARC soon, and sharing my review before release, but the buzz I’ve heard from other bloggers is fantastic.  This is a loosely Italian-inspired fantasy-world, where magic works by inscribing very specific runes onto objects.  Book one was an action-packed fest from start to finish, looking forward to the sequel!

RACE THE SANDS by Sarah Beth Durst
Release Date: April 21st, 2020
And now for a standalone entry!  I haven’t read Sarah Beth Durst before, though her books have long graced my Kindle TBR stack.  This time, she’s writing about a world where dangerous monsters called kehoks can be trained to be ridden in races.  Two women, one a trainer and one a rider, enter into a pact to train a kehok in the hopes of winning the prize money that can save them from their different desperate circumstances.  I should get to this one before the release date, so look for a review in the coming weeks!

THE GIRL AND THE STARS by Mark Lawrence
Release Date: April 21st, 2020
Lastly, I would be remiss if I didn’t give a shout out to Mark Lawrence’s new trilogy, BOOK OF THE ICE.  Set in the same world as BOOK OF THE ANCESTOR (which begins with RED SISTER), it follows a young girl in a clan of people who live in the dangerously cold wilds of Abeth, who discovers secrets about the world that will forever alter how her kind survive.  I still need to finish BOOK OF THE ANCESTOR, so it’ll be a bit before I get to this, but if you need new Mark Lawrence, go enjoy!

And those are my picks for the month.  What are you looking forward to?
