Currently Reading: THE BURNING GOD by R.F. Kuang
It’s good to be back? I always find it so hard to accurately describe my enthusiasm for a series that is about war and all of the horrors that come with it. THE BURNING GOD is the final book in THE POPPY WAR trilogy, and once again it is full of plenty of innocents caught in the crossfire of warring sides. But even with this stressful subject matter, I find myself utterly engrossed in watching Rin claw her way through tragedy after tragedy, desperately trying to find a path to victory. This book is over 600 pages, but I’m nearly 40% through in just a few days. It’s a little bit of a struggle to see Rin overwhelmed once again by the forces around her, and yet I can’t put the book down. And really, she’s a teenage girl with the power of a god crammed inside her body, so the overwhelming imposter syndrome she sometimes deals with is probably realistic.
Recently Finished: NOPHEK GLOSS by Essa Hansen
WOW, that was some crazy world-building packed into a book! I love a good space opera, and NOPHEK GLOSS presented me with a fresh view of space travel I really enjoyed reading. I had some trouble overall with the pacing, some of which was whiplash fast, but it was still very much a book I enjoyed checking out. If you’re interested in my further thoughts, you can read the full review here!
Probable Next Read: RECORD OF A SPACEBORN FEW by Becky Chambers
I made myself a promise I would read this book this month, after buying it two years ago. RECORD OF A SPACEBORN FEW is the third book in a series of loosely connected feel-good sci-fi adventures. This one follows some of the last people left on the Exodus Fleet that left Earth centuries ago to find new planets to live on. For some reason these last stragglers haven’t found a reason to move to a new home, but they may find themselves forced to face a new future, whether they want to or not. With the announcement that a fourth and final WAYFARERS book is set for release in 2021, now is the time to finally catch-up on this series!
And that’s what I’m reading this week! What are you up to? Are you one of the devoted many who are devouring RHTHYM OF WAR on release day?
Enjoy your reading!
I’m about to start my reread of the Poppy war, and then the dragon Republic, so the story is fresh in my mind for the burning God!

I’m reading Siege and Storm at the mo, second of Leigh Bardugo’s Shadow and Bone series. It’s nothing special but they’ve been very good audiobooks to chew through while painting the bedroom 😄

Oh those are perfect for painting! I’ve read that trilogy and the Six of Crows duology. Of the trilogy, I think Shadow and Bone was my fave, but they all hold up pretty well.

Oh my, I can’t wait to see your full thoughts on The Burning God. So far everything I’ve seen is just people left in a wake of devastation haha. 🙂

I would read your review of Nophek Gloss right now, because I am really curious! And I haven’t started The Poppy War series yet, even if I was hoping to do it this year. I would try again the next year! And I am really looking forward to it!
